About First Church Belfast
OUR CHURCH is a home for thoughtful minds and open hearts. We celebrate the dignity of each individual’s search and together live out faith in community. Rooted in a free and liberal christian tradition, we strive to be open to all.
We are an open and welcoming community of faith that believes that each person, created in the image of God, holds a piece of the truth, therefore we respect each person’s unique spiritual journey. We invite you to experience the difference that religious freedom in a caring community can make.
There exists a wide range of theological, political, and cultural commitments within our congregation. We value these differences, and seek to learn from one another rather tan to compel any who join us to conform to a prescribed set of beliefs.
Without requiring adherence to any specific religious belief or creed, we strive to create a community that celebrates the gifts of our members, friends and neighbours. We foster and environment where each member and guest can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections.
We cherish the diversity of humanity - a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, financial means, education, and political perspective. We are buoyed by the connections between us, and seek to deepen them while also inviting new friends on this shared journey.
Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
